Patrick F. Kennedy served for 44 years in the U.S. Department of State in numerous positions in Washington and overseas.  During the last decade of his career, he served as Under Secretary of State for Management where he was responsible for the people, resources, budget, facilities, technology, financial operations, consular affairs, logistics, contracting, and security for Department of State operations, and the Secretary’s principal advisor on management issues.  In this role, he provided key leadership regarding the creation of an external, private, nonprofit partner, to raise awareness and private sector support to augment State Department funding for the proper stewardship and preservation of the United States’ cultural heritage overseas.  Ultimately, these efforts resulted in the founding of the Fund to Conserve U.S. Diplomatic Treasures Abroad (Fund to Conserve).

Ambassador Kennedy’s extensive foreign service career included serving as Director of the Office of Management Policy, Rightsizing, and Innovation; the Deputy Director of National Intelligence for Management; and the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations for Management and Reform. Mr. Kennedy’s early assignments included serving as Management Counselor at the Embassy in Cairo and General Services Officer in charge of the U.S. Embassy properties in Paris.

Mr. Kennedy is a native of Chicago, Illinois and received a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
